shit my birthday is in 3 days. i feel so fucking old. but also. it is nice to see i made it to 28, i honestly never thought i would live to be this old. i have almost died..too many times. but i am stubborn i guess. i am still here. heh.
i was looking at old files today. some made me sad. some made me happy. the sad ones were screenshots of old journals which had comments from old 'friends' i had. so fucked up how fake people are. i want to mention them here but i will restrain myself.
the ones that made me happy were the ones of nick and i from years ago. photos, emails, etc. i love that bastard. heh
we are going to install linux on this pc tomorrow. i am so sick of windows. it is too slow and bloated. ugh. i will still have it on my other PC because i need it for designing and graphics an shit but all my web and other stuff will be with this one.
anyone running linux? any programs you suggest?
okay i should go. i need to sleep. fuck it is too early. ugh. heh

Let the rhythm rain down upon me.
But.
I recently installed Kubuntu 9.4 and it's amazing how much they've improved in two years. I'm guessing that Ubuntu 9.4 is just as good.
(Ubuntu uses Gnome which is made to look kinda like Mac OS)
(Kubuntu uses KDE which is made to look kinda like Windows)
You can download a Live CD from their websites, burn it to a CD, and then reboot your computer with the CD inserted and then test both of them before you decide. I don't know if you know of Live CDs already, but they "install" themselves into your RAM with all the things you test so that when you turn off the computer it's all completely gone again, and your normal installation is left intact. Unless you decide to press the real Install button, that's when you put it on the hd

As far as what flavor of Linux to install, many people that are new to linux like Ubuntu.
As far as word processing I like Open Office. For instant messaging you can use Pidgin to connect to most of the popular messaging programs.

Hopefully your install will go well. Sometimes those can be a pain. I've never had problems with my computer though. And then you can customize EVERYTHING!!

you can run PS on it, tho i don't know if it can properly run CS4. there is gimp, but i'm sure you want PS
there are some unattended versions of XP that run smooth too, if you wanna keep it familiar...
but definitely try the livecd first, before installing anything permanently.

Note me for lockerz invites.
I have been using GNU/Linux for 8 years now (ehm, yes, I have a "computer geek" brain devision) It's much more stable, fun and secure. Ubuntu is a very reasonable choice if you're trying GNU/Linux for the first time and the guys behind it go to great pains to ensure a user-friendly experience. There's a nice article here about that.
